The Artifacts → Spirits mechanic
From your wallet, consuming an Artifact turns it into a Spirit. That is a real contract call, not lore. The Spirits contract stores a hard-coded reference to the V3 Artifacts address and exposes consume(uint256 tokenId). In one transaction, for gas only (the cited calls send 0 ETH): the Artifact moves into the Spirits contract and stays there (no withdraw), and a new Spirit is minted to you. The token IDs do not match. Artifact #5 became Spirit #28, not Spirit #5. The Artifact is not burned. It is locked. The three examples below match color: Black to genesis black, Titanium to genesis titanium, Blue to genesis blue. That is metadata. consume() does not take traits, and a rarer Artifact is not a promise of a rarer Spirit. If you own an unconsumed Artifact, the desk is on that token page and on My Punksville. Per-token approve first, then consume. We never request setApprovalForAll. The contract does not emit a dedicated event, only standard ERC-721 Transfer logs, so the table below is a hand-verified sample, not a full history. Live consumes in the current Pulse window sit above it.

Ownership & admin control
None of these three contracts are owned or controlled by this application. V3Punks exposes no public owner() getter at all - its admin address is fixed at deployment with no transfer function in the verified ABI. V3Artifact and SpiritsOfPunksville both use a standard, transferable Ownable pattern. In all three cases, nothing about this site grants us, or anyone else, special permissions - see docs/ARCHAEOLOGY.md for the full per-contract breakdown.
